Stay Hungry, Stay Humble

It was Ramadan, so it was normal for me to remain awake during the night nourished for the next day’s fast. Yet Saturday 1st June had the added incentive of following Anthony Joshua’s debut fight in the USA at New York’s Madison Square Gardens against Andy Ruiz, Jr. I’m not a huge Boxing fan but I have revered AJ from the moment he blew me away with an interview he did years ago prior to his fight against Dillian Whyte in 2015. I was instantly hooked by the charm and humility he exuded and continued to follow his journey with great awe and excitement.

Naturally, as a fan I was shocked, gutted, and heartbroken for AJ when he went on to lose his 4 world titles to Andy Ruiz, Jr. in what was instantly labelled one of the hugest upsets in boxing history. I’m curious as to how he will respond in the aftermath of the fight as he prepares for the rematch in Autumn. Nevertheless, I wanted to take the time to put into words why he inspires me.
