DALES to LAKES, Day 0

I’ve been toying with the idea of doing a ‘live diary’, of writing up entries from each day of an adventure as I’m embarking on each trail, ideally in the presence of hills, valleys + waterfalls! Whilst I’m there in that place, in the moment.

Some articles I can conjure pretty quick, but others, like Cross Country Eid, can take a while due to my frustrating MO of wanting to hit the right note + tone with my prose. So I’m going to give it a shot! I’m going to plunge into new places across regions that mean a great deal to me in the coming week or so, and I’m excited. Going to test some new kit, and explore some new routes + spaces, so let’s see what I discover!

How do I feel?

Well, I have mixed feelings. Although I’m looking forward to this new adventure I feel very unprepared because although I’ve scoped out some routes, carved out a schedule, I don’t have specific trails planned. Plus recently I’ve been feeling quite lost, or stressed, or a little demotivated at times because of the state of affairs with my work life. My interest in people is clearly diminishing at the moment.

But I know as things move I will embrace what comes. I know that when things get fired up and running, I’m like a hound. My senses become sharp + alert and I’m hyped + on the prowl, hunting for blood. I’m speaking metaphorically of course, because in this sense, my curiousity is hypersensitive, and I keep feeding it. I’m immersed in everything I encounter when I play outside so yeah, let’s see how things unfold.
