Check-in: Welsh 3000s for Eid

It feels like it’s been too long since I wrote. Heck, right now all I want to do is write + recite. Let the words breathe and flow through me. Just express, create, and paint pictures with words. Blow out all the tension, energy, ideas, hunger, and ambition bubbling beneath.

What is fresh on my mind + heart? Well, although the hype and flare is gradually fading from it all, its my Welsh 3000s for Eid adventure. Heck, you could call it a challenge, because in many ways it was in the end. But it was also fun, invigorating, revitalising. A journey. Yet the prelude and aftermath, the build up and come down, reveal much about where I am right now and my trip, I feel, showed me where I can go, or moreover, where I want to go, who I want to be. I want to explore that more. I feel I need to.

Shall I share more about the trip? OK. Context. After the monumental success of Cross Country Eid, I’ve tried to always go away whenever Eid comes around. I call it a monumental success as it inspired me in myriad ways. I was reminded of how much I love the outdoors with a sweet blend of nostalgia served through exploring old places in new ways. Since then I have been more proactive with getting out and venturing into hills, valleys and waterfalls on a more frequent basis.

Welsh 3000s

When planning my routes for this particular trip in Snowdonia National Park, North Wales, I wanted to revisit summits like Snowdon + Glyder Fach that I had previously explored yet were doused in cloud. I poured over nearby mountain ranges and decided I want to ascend the biggest peaks in Snowdonia. Internet perusals led to the discovery of the Welsh 3000s, which are all the mountains in Snowdonia above 3000 feet. I thus decided that I was going to hike them all over 4 days!

I was nervous, yet excited about the adventure ahead. I plan on writing about the journey in the coming days + weeks, and look forward to what I will eventually publish here.
