For Our Babies community campaign

For Our Babies

Friends who are Fathers speak glowingly of how their child sparked an energy within they never knew existed. Many Mothers have also shared stories with me of babies that left this world too soon. In all these conversations, the one common thread that continues to bewilder and inspire me is love. How can such love be so enduring and powerful, even despite any pain? I think it’s important we appreciate, celebrate, and embrace this love, and process any pain and trauma that comes with it, which is why I’m facilitating this campaign and more.

Community Campaign

Our community campaign aims to raise awareness around baby loss, create opportunities to commemorate this, and support vital work to prevent baby loss.

  1. Raise awareness – how are babies being lost, particularly in war? How many people experience baby loss? Which organisations are working towards addressing baby loss? We want to help people answer these questions.
  2. Commemorate – baby loss is heart-breaking, and often traumatic, and it’s important we break taboos and engage in activities that enable us to show solidarity and express our grief. This can be a lonely journey, but here we want to provide a community of commemoration ‘For Our Babies’
  3. Support prevention – many organisations are doing incredible work to prevent baby loss, yet they need support and not enough people know of them. Whether it’s signposting or donations, this campaign will enable people to do this support prevention of baby loss.

Why ‘community campaign’? Because this isn’t about me. It’s about US. It’s about OUR babies. It’s about OUR humanity, and it’s about participation. It’s about bringing people together to create meaningful and impactful actions during the catastrophic times we live in.

Gaza Infant Nutrition Alliance (GINA)

GINA provides life-saving breastfeeding support, which evidence shows is crucial to the nutritional development of babies, and even more paramount when formula is unsafe or unavailable amidst war and famine. They are a collective of international volunteers, including lactation consultants, doctors, midwives and health specialists – a model they adorably call the ‘circle of love’, which they strive to ‘wrap’ those they care for with.

GINA aim to establish a continuous milk supply, training, education and community support where it is needed most. As of September 2025, they are based in 5 hospitals and 1 community clinic in Gaza. They work in collaboration with several partners including MSF, Action Against Hunger, the Ministry of Health in Gaza and several UN agencies. We will be raising funds for GINA throughout this campaign. To learn more about GINA, click here.

Baby Loss Awareness Week

Baby loss takes several forms during and after pregnancy, and it’s important more people understand this and know where to access support. Alongside raising awareness and supporting GINA’s incredible work, we will be supporting BLAW (taking place across the UK from 9th to 15th October 2025). To learn more about BLAW, click here.

Ways to Get Involved!

There are numerous ways to get involved, and we will be here to help you every step of the way if needed to reach your goal and contribute to the campaign!

LEARN, FOLLOW, SHARE, TEACH

Come and learn more about baby loss and infant nutrition via resources from BLAW and GINA, starting with their respective websites (see ‘additional learning’ at the end of this page)!

Follow them on multiple social media channels, and share their links and posts with family, friends and colleagues!

If you are someone with in-depth knowledge and experience of infant nutrition and baby loss, or of trauma, grief and bereavement, or of Palestine solidarity, then we can help you host a learning event, in-person and online, to raise awareness AND funds!

DONATE

Donate what you can to our fundraiser for GINA via the following link: https://bit.ly/FOBGINA. ANY amount will make a huge direct difference:

  • £5 funds a hygiene kit to reduce infection

Lake District Challenge

To support objectives of this campaign, Wasim (Founder of drBACKPACK) will be hiking 40 miles, climbing 4000m, and reaching 25 summits across 3 days in the Lake District National Park. Alongside raising awareness of baby loss, he also hopes to generate further donations for GINA.

STALLS

Are you running a stall concerning baby loss, infant nutrition, Palestine solidarity or stopping war and famine? Then PLEASE consider raising funds for GINA on your stall! Many have done this already, and it’s a rewarding and effective way to also raise awareness and connect with your community.

POP-UP SHOPS

Do you have items to give such as baby toys or clothing? Are you a keen cook or baker? Then why not create a pop-up shop outside your home, in your neighbourhood, or on your high street and raise funds for GINA?! Click here to see a recent example of a charity sale fundraiser for GINA.

WALK + VIGIL

The campaign will culminate with a walk and vigil in the Surrey Hills on Sunday 12th October 2025! The walk is family-friendly, led by a fully qualified and experienced Mountain Leader and include access to parking and facilities. The vigil will follow the walk, feature food and flowers, and anything else participants want to create to commemorate our babies.

Entry is FREE in return for a donation to GINA via the following link: https://gofund.me/e82be0f6. Times are currently 9:30am to 2:30pm (walk ends, vigil starts 1pm), and location is Reigate Hill and Gatton Park in the Surrey Hills National Landscape.
